Traveling by bus to Nuremberg and then departing to Danube
Here's a map to give you some orientation of location
"The second-largest city in Bavaria (Federal State of Germany) famous for its role in World War II, first as the site of Zeppelin Field's Nazi rallies and later as the site of the war crimes trials at the Palace of Justice that captured the attention of a generation." (Viking Guide p. 17)
Here's a map to give you some orientation of location

| We rode a bus from Prague to Nuremberg. I think it took about 3 hours journey to travel. |

| Meeting place of Nazi officials. |
![]() |
| The lake (hard to see here) was used as a reflection of the building (across the lake) to make it appear bigger than it really is. |

| Hitler would stand on the lower porch to observe the processional and raise his right hand in salute to the Nazi Party. This site is near the Zeppelin Field where the Nazi rallies took place. |

| One of the bullet trains of Europe here in Nuremberg. |

| A government building in downtown Nuremberg. John & Susan Rodgers on the left side of the picture. |

| Palace of Justice Courtroom 600 where the Nuremberg trials were held. |
A beautiful cemetery we drove by during our bus tour.

| Heading up to the entrance of the Imperial Palace from the 13th century. |
![]() |
| This is in the entrance to the Imperial Castle of Northern Nuremberg. In the foreground is one of our party, Randy Hackbarth. I think that may be his wife walking to the right, Nancy Long. |

| Heading into the castle we see the waving German flag. |
![]() |
| Overlooking northern Nuremberg. You will see St.Peter's Church just above the Viking sign up close and personal a little bit later. |

| Do you recognize anyone in this picture? |
![]() |
| Heading down from the Imperial Palace is the only building that survived the WWII bombings. It's the white building in the center of this photo. |
![]() |
| Looking back at the castle is what you see in this photo. Nuremberg means the city of rock. You can tell why from this photo. |
![]() |
| This is the rear of St. Peter's Church on the square. |
![]() |
| Opposite St. Peter's Church is this church which I forget the name. |
![]() |
| Stopped at the market for a latte. Isn't this romantic? |
![]() |
| SISTERS! |

| Inside St. Peter's Church. |

| Leaving the castle and crossing the river to take this photo. |

| One the way back to the ship I took a picture of the high speed rails. |

| Back at the ship. |

| Lunch time! |

| Approaching one of 9 locks. |
![]() |
| Inside the lock. |

| UGH! A stink bug! We just cant' get away from those little bugs! |

| We pushed off and are heading to Regensburg. Here we are approaching yet another lock on our way to the Danube River... |
*Europe's 2nd longest river 1,785 miles from Black Forest in Germany to the Black Sea*
*Flows thru or borders 10 countries: Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine & Romania*
*Travels through 4 European capital cities: Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, & Belgrade*
*Danube Delta is 2nd largest in the world and still growing*
*Nearly 1/6 of the river's total length (259 miles) is in Hungary*
*Hungary's capital, Budapest, is sometimes referred to as the "Queen of the Danube"*
*As far back as the 7th century BC, Greek sailors were navigating the Danube*
*In Roman times, it serves as the northern boundary of the vast Roman Empire*
*The very first river cruises on the Danube took place int he early 19th century*
Now wasn't that fast & fun?
